1. Purpose
The MahaBachatGat Consultancy Portal (“Portal”) is committed to promoting professionalism, integrity, transparency and ethical business practices. This Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct (“Code”) establishes the minimum standards of ethical behaviour expected from every Consultant registered on the Portal.
The Code aims to:
• build trust between Consultants and Service Buyers;
• promote responsible consultancy practices;
• encourage fair and affordable professional services, particularly for SHGs and Women Entrepreneurs;
• maintain the reputation of the MahaBachatGat Ecosystem; and
• support lawful and ethical business conduct.
Compliance with this Code is a condition of continued registration on the Portal.
2. Scope
This Code applies to all registered Consultants, irrespective of their profession, location or mode of service delivery.
It should be read together with the Portal’s:
• Terms & Conditions
• Consultant Policy
• Service Buyer Policy
• Acceptable Use Policy
• Intellectual Property Policy
• Privacy Policy
• Disclaimer
• Other applicable Portal policies.
3. Integrity and Honesty
Consultants shall:
• conduct themselves honestly and fairly;
• provide truthful information in their profiles and service listings;
• avoid false, misleading or exaggerated claims regarding qualifications, experience or achievements;
• disclose material facts that may influence a Service Buyer’s decision.
Consultants shall not knowingly misrepresent their expertise or professional capabilities.
4. Professional Competence
Consultants shall:
• accept assignments only within their area of competence;
• maintain appropriate professional knowledge and skills;
• pursue continuous learning and professional development;
• comply with applicable professional standards and industry best practices.
Where specialist expertise is required, Consultants should advise Service Buyers accordingly rather than undertaking work beyond their competence.
5. Respect for SHGs and Women Entrepreneurs
The Consultancy Portal is established with the objective of empowering Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Women Entrepreneurs across India.
Consultants are encouraged to:
• provide practical and solution-oriented guidance;
• communicate in a respectful and inclusive manner;
• offer affordable pricing where reasonably possible;
• support capacity building and entrepreneurship development;
• contribute to sustainable economic growth and social empowerment.
Consultants are expected to uphold the spirit and mission of the MahaBachatGat Ecosystem.
6. Transparency in Services and Pricing
Consultants shall clearly communicate:
• scope of services;
• deliverables;
• timelines;
• consultancy methodology;
• assumptions;
• exclusions;
• consultancy charges;
• taxes, if applicable;
• payment terms.
Hidden charges, misleading pricing or deceptive business practices are prohibited.
7. Confidentiality
Consultants shall respect the confidentiality of information received from Service Buyers.
Unless authorised by the Service Buyer or required by law, Consultants shall not disclose confidential information relating to:
• business operations;
• financial information;
• trade secrets;
• project reports;
• customer information;
• proprietary methodologies;
• strategic plans;
• personal information.
Where appropriate, Consultants should execute Confidentiality Agreements or Non-Disclosure Agreements before commencing assignments.
8. Conflicts of Interest
Consultants shall avoid situations where personal, financial or professional interests may improperly influence their professional judgement.
Where a conflict of interest exists or may reasonably arise, the Consultant shall promptly disclose it to the Service Buyer and take appropriate steps to manage or avoid the conflict.
9. Compliance with Laws
Consultants shall comply with all applicable Central and State laws, regulations and professional requirements, including those relating to:
• taxation;
• intellectual property;
• data protection;
• consumer protection;
• anti-corruption;
• anti-money laundering (where applicable);
• labour and employment;
• professional licensing and registrations.
Consultants remain solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining any licences, registrations or certifications required for their profession.
10. Respect for Intellectual Property
Consultants shall respect the intellectual property rights of the Portal, Service Buyers and third parties.
Consultants shall not:
• use copyrighted material without permission;
• infringe trademarks or patents;
• misuse confidential information;
• claim ownership of another person’s work;
• plagiarise reports or presentations.
Any intellectual property developed during consultancy assignments shall be governed by the agreement between the Consultant and the Service Buyer.
11. Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Consultants may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist in preparing documents, reports or presentations, provided that:
• AI-generated content is reviewed for accuracy;
• confidential information is not disclosed to unauthorised AI systems;
• intellectual property rights are respected;
• outputs are suitable for professional use.
Consultants remain fully responsible for the accuracy and quality of all work delivered to Service Buyers.
12. Professional Communication
Consultants shall:
• communicate courteously and respectfully;
• respond to enquiries within a reasonable time;
• avoid offensive, discriminatory or abusive language;
• provide clear and timely updates regarding consultancy assignments.
Professional communication strengthens trust and reflects positively on the Portal.
13. Fair Competition
Consultants shall compete fairly and ethically.
Consultants shall not:
• make false or misleading statements about competitors;
• engage in unfair solicitation;
• interfere with existing contractual relationships;
• misuse confidential information obtained from competitors.
Healthy competition benefits the entire professional community.
14. Responsibility Towards the Portal
Consultants shall:
• maintain accurate profile information;
• promptly update changes in qualifications, experience or contact details;
• comply with Portal policies;
• cooperate in verification processes;
• avoid activities that may damage the reputation of the Portal.
The Portal reserves the right to review listings and request corrections where necessary.
15. Reporting Ethical Concerns
Consultants are encouraged to report suspected unethical conduct, fraud or misuse of the Portal.
Reports should be made in good faith and include sufficient information to facilitate review.
The Portal will handle reports in accordance with its Grievance Redressal Policy.
16. Non-Compliance
Failure to comply with this Code may result in administrative action, including:
• advisory or warning notices;
• requests for corrective action;
• temporary suspension of listings;
• removal of content;
• account suspension;
• termination of registration;
• reporting to competent authorities where required by law.
The Portal will determine appropriate action based on the seriousness of the breach.
17. Continuous Improvement
Consultants are encouraged to:
• participate in professional development programmes;
• stay informed about changes in law and industry standards;
• adopt best practices in consultancy;
• contribute to the growth and credibility of the MahaBachatGat Consultancy Portal.
18. Acceptance
By registering on consultancy.mahabachatgat.in and maintaining an active Consultant account, every Consultant acknowledges that they have read, understood and agree to comply with this Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct.
Continued use of the Portal constitutes ongoing acceptance of this Code and any future amendments.
